Pretentious?

I'm irritated. I got called "pretentious" and "a film snob" because I like this movie.

I happen to like a LOT of foreign movies and indie films, but I don't discredit big Hollywood flicks for it. I still like shelling out $8.50 and seeing the latest installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean". So how am I pretentious? Grrrr.

If they call you Pretentious just for liking Vivre Sa Vie what they would call Quentin Tarantino then for recreating the whole dance scene in Pulp Fiction.

Some people like to call some movies pretentious or snobby, when those movies are just among the best. We can also expect someone to come here and say it's overrated or the worst ever, there will always be someone doing that about truly great films.

Little late in answering your question, but just in case you happen to see my response, why do you care if someone calls you pretentious because you like foreign films? Clearly the fault lies with the person insulting you and not you, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
