This is something I have wondered about! What year was is this movie suppose to take place? Was it suppose to be in the future? The United Nations doesn't have a news network or tv network! Nor do they have their own navy!

This was a worldwide emergency, so the UN quickly put together an investigative team to research the situation. And a navy was awarded to them for safety
