Gunga gunga, where's our fish?
I asked one of my siblings that and they said it meant his guts.
"You want me to roll 6,000 of these!? What? Should I quit my job!?" George Costanza, Seinfeld
No, corns are like painful bumps that can develop on your toes. And whether intended or not by the Japanese, I always laughed at that bit of business in the American version:
"When you and the monster meet, be sure to tell him all about your corn problems!"
"I DON'T WANNA HEAR ABOUT YOUR CORNS!!"
Good comic relief.
Yeah, a corn is also known as a clavus. The proper medical name for them is a heloma.
Clavuses (or clavi) are a specific funnel shaped form of a callus of dead skin. They most commonly form on the fingers, toes or feet. They are usually formed by the rubbing, of a shoe for example, on the skin forming the corn in such a way that it has a hard centre with a broad top tapering down to a point on the skin. Which is why they are so damn painful.
They are called corns because the hard callus of skin looks like a barley seed - which has that same funnel shape.

Put my burglar down!
And he says "My corns hurt" in the face of possible danger the way someone might say "It's gonna rain today--my knee hurts."
Corn has always been a huge part in the diet of the Japanese
