Angela Lansbury Was A Looker In This Film

Too bad they made her look like such a sod.

Her character annoyed me greatly..she was too naggy and overdramatic. But she did put on a good performance.

Well, I find it interesting that she was cast even though she was much to young for the roll. She was only 12 years older than Beatty and a year younger than Eva Marie Saint! Of course she was very convincing, just as she was in The Manchurian Candidate, where I believe she was just a 4 years older than her son, Laurence Harvey...

And in "Blue Hawaii", filmed shortly before "All Fall Down", she was only nine years older than Elvis, who played her son.

Has anyone read the novel? Although the incest isn't graphic in The Manchurian Candidate, it's explicit (in fact, the mother had been abused by her own father as a child and enjoyed it). I'm wondering if it's in All Fall Down or if its being alluded to onscreen is a spin added by Frankenheimer and/or Inge.

Angela was very attractive (in an off-beat sort of way) in her younger days.
A terrific actress and very underrated.

She was lovely in The Picture of Dorian Grey (1945).

In the novel, incestuous feelings are only suggested in one scene, near the end. Berry-berry drunkenly staggers into his dark bedroom, dragging a prostitute with him. He puts his hand on her private parts, and asks "Are you Annabel?" She answers "That's right baby, I'm Annabel." Berry-berry says "We shouldn't do this. You shouldn't be here." The prostitute says "You want me to go?", and he says "No! Stay!"

To me, she was my idea of the prototypical "milf".
