Anyone know if this can be called a B western? I mean, was it low-budget?

It's a public mistake that B stands for Bad.. a B-movie is a low budget-film. So that was what I meant with it.

No. It was an extremely high budget film for the time and was considered an A+ western.

Are you out of your mind? Brando was the highest paid actor of his generation. He is the footprint due to which todays actors are getting those massive percentage profits!
This film could have been elevated to cult status. Some how there was a zing missing in it. But still a fine film.

Brando had to act his behind off just to stay near Maldon (who was excellent).

Brando, Malden, Technicolor, VistaVision, and location shooting do not equal "B Movie".
