Great movie...

Well, they were but don't go by this film which is historically inacurate. The Colossus didn't have a bunch of rooms and machines inside (as far as we know), it didn't bestride the harbor but was on a hill nearby and it was only about 100 feet tall. It was knocked down by an earthquake but 60 years after it was built. The rebellion seen here never happened.

If you are willing to just accept this movie as entertainment rather than historical record, this is a great sword and sandal flick. The sets are amazing and the special effects done quite well considering when the movie was made. The story is very good if a little hard to follow at times. The acting is good and the on location scenery is quite beautiful. The action and fight scenes are done well.

Bear in mind it's not a documentary. They take several liberties with the real-life Colossus. But it's a fun sword-and-sandal romp. One of the better examples in its genre.
