Snobbery?
Interesting how in the book, the nurse falls for the sargeant not Capn' Anson.
But they changed it round when they made the film.
Wonder why?

Johnny Mills or Harry Andrews, mmmmmmmm, tough one, let me see.... Who would I go for if I was Sylvia ?
shareCaptain Anson was a hopeless drunk. Sylvia must have been very desperate if she couldn't wait to get to Alex where there would be plenty of better men. Even Captain van der Poel was of better stock than Anson.
shareThe love scene ruined a great film. Certainly it was obvious that the sergeant was the one for fall for. He treated her like a gentleman throughout whereas Anson was just a drunken bully.
shareMaybe she liked a wrong'un
My cousin's out fighting dragons, and what do I get? A one-way ticket to Palookaville
One is because the guy is a star, but since when does a woman pick the gentleman?
sharethere is a peciking order in films. the star gets the girl.
