I was the Director

It is wonderful to read how many people enjoyed, and remembered this film. It was my first feature film, and I had a great cast and crew.

I just love the idea of the director reading these comments. If anyone is not aware of the astounding career Mr Moxey has had, take the time to peruse his filmography - I just did and my hat fell off.
A big fan from now on! I would have been earlier, but you live and learn.
Many of my absolute favourite things have been your responsibility, and I too love this film.

I love this film. On my own tonight and just decided to watch it again on youtube. Very atmospheric.

Good director too - Moxley directed my favourite Karl Kolchak outing 'The Night Stalker'.

Time flies like the wind - and fruit flies like bananas!

If you indeed are the director of this movie you should check out "Cinemassacres" Halloween review of it.

Great job Mr Moxey!

This was one of the few movies that my sister and I looked forward to every year on Chiller Theater in the early 70s.

You can cut the dread with a knife in this horror classic.

Btw, I just picked up the blu-ray and it looks better than ever!

Mr. Moxey, I am watching this film for the first time on the recommendation of a friend. It's fifteen minutes from the end and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Congrats on an excellent first film!

You did a wonderful job. This is the one vintage horror film I never had the guts to watch on the old CREATURE FEATURES show on Old Channel 5 (WNEW/Metromedia TV) out of New York City. So it wasn't until the Christopher Lee salute, on TCM last night, that I recognized one scene, from the action-packed climax, as being one of the film clips used by then-CBS newsman Harry Smith for his 1997 History Channel documentary on Halloween!

Most jaded teenagers today would probably exclaim: "Well, duh! Of course, the place was under an evil spell. Fog 24/7? That should've been the beeyotch's first clue!"

But, I would hazard to guess that a geas on out-of-town visitors, to NOT question the atmospheric surroundings, was part and parcel of the Selwyn/Newlys curse.

P.S.---Happy Upcoming 92nd Birthday!

Wow....directed The Night Stalker! And four episodes of Kung Fu! And a *whole* lot more!

Most excellent.

I met Claude Akins once (Sheriff Butcher in TNS)...got a pic of him and me, he was pretty cool that day.

Hello Mr. Moxey - As a lover of the genre I have to say this is one of the best horror films ever. I remember watching this film in the 1970s. Saw it again last night on Turner Classic Movies. The black and white film cinematography is superb. Bravo to you. Thanks for creating a fun scary film that I've enjoyed to watch over the years. Rave on and be well! : )

Mr. Moxey,
I am just now beginning to watch "The City of the Dead" or as it is listed on TCM, "Horror Hotel", for the first time, and am quite looking forward to it. It is very cool, as others have said, to have the director take the time to comment and let us know that he is aware of the comments and threads on this movie. I also looked up your bio and resume of work and was very impressed with how many shows you helmed that I watched over the years! I especially wanted to comment on your direction of "The Night Stalker" tv movie. That was a movie that genuinely thrilled and scared me at the time (as a teen) and it has remained a true classic and a favorite of mine. It was very influential, as well, and an innovation in the genre.
Thanks, again, for letting us know that you read and appreciate your fans' comments. Please count me as a sincere member of that large group. Gotta go and watch "Horror Hotel" now!

I just learned that you also directed the "Iron Man" episode of THE CHAMPIONS. The ITC series that Old Channel 5 used to air just _before_ CREATURE FEATURES on Saturday nights! For those of you who have never heard of it? Imagine if the Agents of SHIELD had been trained by the Ancient One, instead of Dr. Strange. And that they subsequently used their powers to fight international crime while based in Switzerland.

That was basically the premise. And I've always regarded it as a shame that it was a one-season wonder.

So thank you, once again, Mr. Moxey, for contributing to my vast stable of favorite TV shows. :-)

Mr. Moxley,

I saw this film a long time ago and remember liking it, but I will be sure to check it out on Blu-ray (it's scheduled to come out)!

I do have one question however... I missed it on TCM, but a friend of mine saw it and said TCM did not show it in its correct aspect ratio (widescreen). Will the scheduled Blu-ray going to use the same transfer or will it be restored to the original screen size?

Thanks so much!
