I love teh first 5 seasons so much (thogh I feel the later half of season 5 was weak) but season 1 wa sby far the best

it had a raw, unpolished feeling to it and it really came off as a southern show in a small town

season 2 it started being more polished and clean cut

Season 1 is one of my favorites, too! Andy Saves Barney's Morale, Christmas Story, Beauty Contest, Opie's Charity, Barney Gets His Man, The Guitar Player, The Manhunt, etc. So many good ones! :)
