Female Lead was a terrible actress

I admire John's work and everything he has ever done, but her performance was an incredible liability to this wonderful movie-her first line 'I forgot your toothbrush' so was badly executed; she clearly had no idea how to work within the expansive framework that Cassavetes had asked his actors to operate in-Ben Carruthers wasn't wholly successful either-only Hugh Hurd came off best

unfortunately i agree

She looked good though.

I don't think you're right. She was pretty good, as was Ben Carruthers. It was improvisational (sort of), and a very different style of acting from what was routinely going on in Hollywood films of the times.

I think the improv style could hurt somewhat.

Lelia Goldoni herself is a very good actress. Just watch her as Ellen Burstyn's best friend in the beginning of "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and she's wonderful. I think it was maybe difficult to iontegrate into Cassavetes' improv style.

And as half the dialogue is looped, it can beharder to sound real when your repeating lines into a microphone.

I liked her. Her character was intriguing and felt real and the actress was very beautiful.

I just saw Goldoni in "Hysteria" and she was very good. She also did a completely believable British accent.
