'THE SILENT STAR' is coming out on DVD in late August...!

aka: FIRST SPACESHIP ON VENUS, (Der Schweigende Stern) August 23, 2005

It will clock in at 95 minutes instead of the current 78, will be in its original German language, and the original music score;
It might even have some commentary from the likes of Professors at the University of Massechusetts-Dept. of German Film Studies-
where this disc is already published for Schools, Libraries and Academia, and is being sold- for $25;
It is supposedly 2:35 widescreen, and 16:9; no other details.
First Run Features is doing domestic Home distribution at $19.95

Though listed as such in the US and Germany (from ICESTORM) the film is criminally not 16:9 enhanced

Thanks. This is one of the films that I'd die to see in their original form: subtitled and full length (apparently 130 minutes?)! The dubbed version is a plain murder. Albeit there are glimpses of something that could have made one of the great SF films of all time. Let's hope the original version won't be priced exorbitantly high!

fresh copies of the restored full length DVD are being sold for 10 Dollars on Ebay Germany by regular store sellers

Any info on where these are available today, 15 years later?

sadly the 130 min version is just a rumor. I think 95 mins is as long as it gets
