Is An Important Scene Missing? [spoiler]

I re-watched the movie recently and still have problems with some character motivations. The matter of Susan dating 2 men simultaneously gets totally ignored by the high-society folks. Alice being shocked at the end to find that there relationship was a dead-end makes no sense since they had realized that early on.

But another character discrepancy at the end makes no sense. Who invited Baddeley's character to the wedding? She had a falling out with the only person who would have invited her. In addition, why does she act disappointed with the marriage vows? Was she expecting a different result? It's as though there's missing footage of a reconciliation between her and Joe that hinted at Joe's not going through with the wedding. I don't think the movie deserved a Best Screenplay Oscar.
