One I always rather liked was the rarely seen All The Young Men with Sidney Poitier, Alan Ladd, James Darren, and an unlikely movie appearance by Mort Sahl. It's more a character study than an action film, but it does have some very tense battlefield scenes and is an interesting examination of the frictions in the then-newly integrated Army.

My Dad is a Korean War veteran, and he long maintained that that movie, the Steel Helmet, and Pork Chop Hill, were the only ones that really caught the feeling of what it was like there.

The Hunters with Robert Mitchum and Robert Wagner

The Men of the Fighting Lady, a 1954 film with an ensemble cast about carrier pilots supporting the ground war.

Battle Flame (1959)

An interesting, very hard to find, movie starring Scott Brady, Elaine Edwards, and Robert Blake.

It concerns five army nurses taken prisoner by the Chinese. American Marines led by Scott Brady go on a rescue mission. Things are complicated by the fact that the head nurse, played by Elaine Edwards, is Brady's former love interest.

It was made on a very low budget and most of the battle scenes are stock footage of actual battles films during both the Korean War and World War II.

Sniper's Ridge (1961)

An interesting b/w low budget film about a captain who orders a dangerous night patrol even though everyone knows the peace treaty will be signed in a day or two. It stars Jack Ging, John Goddard, and Douglas Henderson.

Sniper's Ridge will be shown on the Fox Movie Channel on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 10 AM central time.
