Please explain to me why this is a good movie. I wanted to like it, but...
The singing and dancing was good and all, but there was hardly any plot. He barely even knew her, and we barely even knew her. Why should we care? I guess it had a nice ambience to it, but that's it.
The original post brings up two different things...
One is not getting it & one is not understanding why its a good movie.
Personally, I understand the idea and liked the idea, but I don't feel it was a good movie. There was too much filler. The majority of the first hour seemed meaningless.

I saw this movie decades ago and I just saw it again. The two actors are so beautiful. I get drawn into the feeling of the film, the drums, the dancing. I love it when Orpheus falls in love with Eurydice. I think the whole thing is charming. If it doesn't appeal to you-- well -- there are movies that everyone loves that I don't care for. So that's just the way it goes sometimes.
