My husband made me turn the channel...

Because he thought Sandra Dee had the most ANNOYING voice and lines known to mankind. LOL!

Anyone else have this "negative" reaction, either yourself or from someone you know? I had to laugh- never saw him get so irritated by something like that before.

Aw, I thought it was a cute movie- what I got to see of it. That girl was absolutely cute as a button!

OMG, I'd be getting another T.V. quick, She is one of the sweetest littlest actors to come out of New Jersey. What in the world does he consider OK for you to watch? I love Sandra Dee, I guess you better not let him catch you watching her in Tammy, he would throw out the T.V.! Do you really let him make you switch channels? I think you would probably like her if you could see her in a whole Movie. I hope so, anyway. Try to watch that one first, she was only 15 years old in Gidget.

I didn't mind her at all as "Gidget", but I cannot stomach her character at all in "Imitation of Life"!!!!!!!!!

I respect your opinion, I just happen to feel the opposite. I thought she acted like a normal teenager in IOL. We'll at least one of privilidge when it came to material things, but one without a mother or guidence except for the Mother she really looked up to in Juanita Moore.

Of course we think different, I guess some people find her captivating, like me, where others might find another actor better suited for the role. But the way I looked at it, Lana Turners (Characters) daughter could have turned out angry and hateful like Juanita's daughter turned out, not appreciating anything her own mother did for her! I can't think of a better actress for that part. No one else could have done it as good as Sandra did. That's just My belief. Thank you, Catherine

Jean Arthurs' voice always irritated me.

LOL! My husband just watched Imitation of Life with me and complained how "annoying" Sandra Dee was in it. I had to laugh, too, I never saw him get so irritated by something like that, either.

I tried to explain that her character in IOL really craved attention and affection after being shipped off to boarding school while her mother was acting. But he wasn't very sympathetic. In fact, he looked at me like I was nuts.

He made sure to leave the room before Gidget came on.

I love Gidget and yet I too find her voice and over-the-top emotions to be annoying.

Someone would be missing some teeth if they made me turn the channel! No one, especially a man, tells me what to do. So disrespectful!

I think she was adorable in this movie and did not find her voice annoying.
