OK, I finally timed the race on my phone!!! I got 8.39.81. so 8 minutes, almost 40 seconds. so we can round it up to 8 minutes 40 seconds (allowing for human error - me!) Such a great scene!

The chariot race in Ben Hur was (and still is) one of the best action scenes in movie history.
shareI had heard about this scene for years as one of the most thrilling in film history. So my expectations were incredibly high. The scene surpassed those expectations and then some. It puts every other race scene to shame.
