Was 4D Man the inspiration for Rogue from the X-men?

He can drain people's life energies through touch or a kiss and become stronger again--or at least younger. Though he doesn't have Rogue's super strength or flight and has phasing power like Shadowcat. I wonder if the creators of Rogue saw this movie before they invented her character.

I would say he's far more inspiration for Shadowcat. She even had a period where she was constantly intangible, and had to focus really hard to become solid again, which starts happening to him late in the story.
