Testing the Gas Chamber

Years ago I remember seeing this movie where they show the gas chamber being tested by using a rabbit. Since this movie was made in the days before animals were protected, this had to be a real rabbit. However, when watching it last night, I noticed that scene was no longer in it. Anybody else remember that scene from years ago and know why it was deleted?

That was in the BBC documentary "14 Days In May", not "I Want To Live."
The chamber was tested using two rabbits. The documentary is from 1986 or so.

The gas chamber scene was creepy. I didn't know they used cyanide capsules in those days. Do prisons still use them.

I'm not sure if it holds true anywhere else, but Oklahoma wants to use the gas chamber as an alternative to lethal injection, and they mentioned it would be through the use of nitrogen.

reply

and they mentioned it would be through the use of nitrogen.

Using nitrogen or other inert gases is often mentioned as the most humane way to kill someone. Or the best possible way to die in general. As a matter of fact too humane for some death penalty advocates, who wish the prisoner to suffer, if only a little.

Bring back violent forms of execution--hanging, decapitation, electrocution, firing squad--and broadcast executions live. If it works to save even one innocent person...
