Genuinely Exciting Ending

The fight was believeable and unnerving. Kept coming back to life at the start of all the sequels, which simply got on my nerves.

It was only used one more time, at the beginning of Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966).

I agree, though, it's a great climax. I saw this in the theatre a couple years back when they released the restored version, and I was literally on the edge of my seat with excitement by the end!

One of my favourite things about the fight is Cushing and Lee's costumes. They both have long flowing coats/capes. Makes them look legendary. The final fight is one of my favourite cinema moments; in comparison, the final battle at the end of the Coppola Dracula is confusing and messy.

Box falls out of the sky, man falls out of the box, man eats fish custard.

I've seen this movie over a dozen times and the ending still makes me sit up and cheer for team Cushing!

It's been 55 years later and many horror movies since haven't come close to being as exciting as the final battle in this film. The whole movie was excellent, but the ending was the best part.

Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.

There's supposed to be an additional shot in the famous ending scene which was cut out from the finished film on the upcoming blu-ray release in March. It's currently avaliable for pre-order on Amazon.UK.

I agree with everyone here. The climax/ending in this is probably the best I've seen in any Dracula film.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

But not better than the ending in the 1931 Lugosi film

I love the ending, it's the best part of the movie. But I just absolutely HATE that there's no dialogue between Dracula and Van Helsing. The first time I watched this I was waiting for some variation of the line "You're a very wise man who has yet to live even one lifetime" but sadly, it never came. Cushing and Lee were great in their respective roles but it would have been so much better had they taunted one another before their epic final battle. Very disappointing.
