"Honest Abe" Episode

The guitar player in the saloon singalong was Pick Temple. For Washington, DC baby-boomers, he was a TV fixture in the 1950s with his kids show. My favorite song that he sang was “On Top of Old Smoky”. It helped pique my interest in playing the guitar. Since he was local DC personality, I was pleasantly surprised to see him. Does anyone from DC remember him or the Ranger Hal Show?

It's interesting how every region of the country seems to have had its own kids' shows with locally famous hosts. In Los Angeles it was Sheriff John, Engineer Bill, Skipper Frank, and others.
