Holden's Character...such a jerk!

I know they tried to redeem him at the end by then it was too little too late for me. This guy is just not a good person. He lusts after Kerr from the beginning, his attraction for her is strictly physical. He lies to her about knowing her husband, doesn't tell her about having a wife, basically treats her as a plaything. And he's not good to his men either. He treats everyone badly, even the Chaplain who is trying to do good work. It's inexplicable that Kerr's character would fall in love with him; I guess we are to think she is just bowled over by his animal magnetism?
