Hair Styling

Whoever styled June Allyson's hair in this movie should be shot. Worst hair-do ever and not very flattering on her head.

But she usually wore her hair like that. Only time her hair looked nice was when hidden under wigs in Little Women.

OMG, I always think that when I see this movie! It's meant for a.much younger woman, and I always think "I'd dump her too!" She's an attractive woman, but that hairdo just ruins it!

I hated her hair too! It looks like she styled it herself at home with rollers on the bottom turning the ends under and she took them out and sprayed them under. It was so flat but I guess flatness was the style and the bangs were extreme and rolled under as well.

That hair was so bad it was distracting! I kept wanting to puff it up so it didn't have that hair helmet look.

It's unanimous. Her hair is absolutely a horror, no wonder she lost her husband!! I blame that terrible MGM hairstylist Sydney Guilaroff, he gave terrible do's repeatedly to some of the loveliest actresses in Hollywood - Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, etc. - and often the exact same cut!! So much for individuality. The silent star Corinne Griffith tells a hilarious story in one of her books about testing for a MGM movie in the 1950's and Sidney trying to give her a "June Allyson" cut - Miss Griffith saw one look at June's hair and was determined to give up the picture rather than let that happen to her scalp!

Accentuated her huge forehead!

She had some slight variation of that hairdo in almost every movie, and even in tv commercials she did when she was old. I guess she must have thought it looked good on her, but some change from one movie to the next would have been nice. She looked younger and prettier in "Little Women", one of the few movies where her hair was altered from the usual.
