How old were you when you first watched this?

It was shown in my second grade class. I remember the teacher explaining that it's about a boy without friends who has a balloon who follows him wherever he goes. I was 7 years old. It was shown on TV a couple times too. I hadn't seen it in over 25 years until tonight. It happened to be shown on TCM, and I got nostalgic and watched it. This is definitely a movie that would lose something if redone by an American studio.

BLACKOUT!

I was 7 or 8 and also saw it in school. My husband was also 7 and saw it in school. It almost seems like the law to watch that when you are about 7 in school.

In April, 1957, aged 10. It was shown nationwide in the UK as the lower half of a double bill with "The Battle of the River Plate".

I saw it for the first time today, and I'm 29. I loved this beautiful little film. I also got nostalgic watching it, not because of my childhood, but because of more recent experiences that have been powerful to me.

One of the earliest films I ever saw, so maybe 3 or 4.

Around six years old during Kindergarten (in what now seems like a 1000 years, LOL!).

Saw this and another Oscar winning short, PADDLE TO THE SEA in the same school year and loved them both! (wish they were available on blu-ray).

Our liberal teachers shoved this into our eyes from 1st grade through the 4th. It was part of the early to mid 1970's attempt to soften up American youth through the use of wimpy Eurocrap imagery.

Thankfully I believe the Reagan administration had most copies of this destroyed.(or shipped to Canada)

I was 9 or 10 which would be 1964 or 65, we were shown it in the auditorium the day before Christmas Vacation. It was the best gift Thomas Edison Elementary School In Burbank CA could have given
