where was Ricky's bedroom?

Since there seems to be only one bedroom in the apartment

where did Ricky sleep?

reply

I was rewatching the movie last night and was thinking the exact same thing. What also confused me was the bathroom, if they had guests over and one of them needed to use the bathroom, would they have to go through the bedroom to do so?

reply

I hav just watched this for the first time. If the whole apartment were real, I think the bathroom would be out on the sidewalk, judging by distance from front door to apartment door.
Also, if the stairs in the apartment were boarded up when it was converted, why is stairs from the hallway leading to the top of the boarded up stairs?

reply

I realise this is an old thread, but having just watched it last night I can answer this question :)

The apartment layout is much clearer on the widescreen DVD than TV broadcasts etc.

Ricky's room is never seen, but if you imagine you are looking at the wall with the piano against it the main door is to the right facing you and the main bedroom is to the left facing you.

There is another door to the left on the left wall which is Ricky's bedroom I imagine, in the corner before the bookcases where he throws the cigarette key.

My building was built in 1927, and you must walk through the bedroom in order to get to the bathroom. Thank goodness I am moving this weekend to a place with a more conventional layout.

His bedroom wasn't shown, which does not mean that it didn't exist.
