Is this the film I saw at the cinema as a child?

I remember, as a six or seven year old child, my Mother (who very rarely let me go to the pictures) took me to the cinema to see (my favourite 'black and white' TV programme character) in this BIG movie on the big screen, in COLOUR!!

It was in a cinema called "The Forum" in Hexham, Northumberland (near Newcastle) and it was FANTASTIC, for me, to see this in colour on a big screen!

The only thing I remember about it though, is that (at one point) the Lone Ranger and Tonto were "holding off" a load of attackers, and they seemed to be each at the top of a different hill, and were individually 'firing down their respective hills' and each individually holding off lots of attackers.

I remember thinking how great it was that they were able to do that!

Does this "hill-top scenario ring a bell with anyone? (I think I am remembering the scene correctly - it is my 'only' specific memory, anyway!)

Is it a scene in THIS film, does anyone know?

You see, I am trying to find out which film this scene was in so that I can try to get hold of a copy of that film.

Because of its "1956 date", this one seems very likely to be the one I saw . . . I think.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

I saw it a year or so ago on telly. In this movie TLR and Tonto were on a hill as you have described. They kinda ambushed the cowboy villains in the pass. I think at one stage Tonto was keeping the Indians at bay who were coming from the opposite direction in the same pass by throwing dynamite at them.

Can you remember anything else? I don't want to give too much away unnecessarily.

Thankyou johnmurphytn

Thanks for confirming that this IS the film I remember from my childhood.

Now, I can try to get hold of a DVD copy of it, I don't know if there is one?

It would be just GREAT to see it again, I'll really be able to 'travel back in time' a little bit, when I see those scenes.

Who knows, when I actually see it, other parts of the film may 'come back to me' also, as (to answer your question) at this stage those are the only scenes that I remember!!

Once again, thanks so much for replying and confirming that this is THE film that I remember!

Cheers,

You're very welcome.

I hope you do get to see it again and I hope you wont be disappointed with it. I was in my mid-forties and had never seen any Lone Ranger movie, even though I knew all about him from comics and cartoons.

I was pleased with this one, so I hope you will be too.

My first outing to the Cinema was in the early to mid seventies. Our parents took us. I was about seven years old. Didn't know the names of the two movies they showed until years later.

They were "Casino Royale" (1967 version) and Elvis Presley's "Tickle Me"

For years I couldn't wait to see them again. Haven't seen "Tickle Me" since, but I have watched "Casino Royale" and I hope I never have to look at it again.

Best of luck

None of us were with you so we have no idea if this is the movie you're talking about
