The Boxer's Enviroment


I have been told that in the 50's boxing was the king of sports on par with NFL football of today. If this is so out hero lives in a pretty drab existence for being only one win away from a chance at the title. The apartment looks like a jail cell, he seems to have no friends male or female. The highlight of his day is a letter from his cornball uncle.

Yeah I don't think there was a lot of money in the sport except for the champions, in those days.

You're definitely right about boxing being much more popular in the 50s. In the late 60s and even the early 70s my dad and his friends often used to take in local and military boxing matches. It was just something a lot of dudes did. You often find boxing integrated into movies from the 40s and 50s.
