Matt Gets It

Just watched the very first episode of Gunsmoke. Unfortunately,
MeTV omitted the intro by John Wayne. I had forgotten how attractive
Amanda Blake was when she was young (and not tarted up). I hope MeTV
finishes all of the half-hour episodes as there are very few that I've
seen (Gunsmoke aired after my bedtime).

Great first episode. It depicted Matt Dillon as a man... a vulnerable man who also had a strategic mind. I find that he slowly becomes a symbol of the law, strictly linear and celibate. Kind of like the a good Terminator of the west (as mentioned in another post)....

True. I'll be watching the third and fourth episode this afternoon.
And for some reason that reminds me of my late parents. They liked
Gunsmoke, so, at one time, they signed up to get the VHS tapes from, I
believe, Columbia House. They didn't realize just how many episodes
of Gunsmoke there were. They finally canceled as the VHS tapes just
kept on coming and they didn't know when the end was in sight.
I must get that from them: I have all of the Have Gun - Will Travel
on VHS but my VCRs keep failing, so I bought the entire series on DVD.
At least I had the benefit if the Internet so I knew what I was getting
int. LOL

Blake was only twenty-five when the series started filming in early 1955.
