steaming coffee pot

During the first inspection of "tramps" place... there is a steaming pot of coffee on the stove... a lot of steam considering they are in the desert...

As someone who lives in the wonderful Mojave Desert, let me be the first to say.... what?

You don't believe we have steam in the desert?

The steam on the coffee pot made it foolish for the Whitmore character to leave his comrade there. If the pot was still steaming, the monster must have struck shorting before.
