I Think I Have a Better Ending (SPOILERS)

Watching the end play out, I was thinking, "How convenient. The Captain is smart enough to know Farnham was going to return the money." Blah!

When Dean Jagger looked up from the cash, he had that devious look he sometimes uses. I thought "How cool! He was involved in the original crime, or was blackmailing the perp(s)! Now, he's got Farnham over a barrel & will blackmail him - or something. Maybe he even has something going with Lilli and was using her to manipulate the two cops.

Or, to be more "2000s," he and Farnham were boyfriends and planned to deal out Bruner from the beginning. This also explains poor Francey's constant look of sexual frustration.

Isn't that a bit cooler - and more noir - than what they gave us?
