Hugh Reilly was missing the second half of the seventh season

We have been watching these episodes in order and notice that Hugh Reilly as Paul Martin did not appear in the episodes in the second half of the seventh season Jan-May 1961. Does anyone know why? The appearances that he made were probably filmed in late 1960 and fitted into the second half. He also missed the first 2 episodes of season 8.
