The one where they hear the stranded family on Bud's radio

What is the name of the episode, and is it on DVD yet? I always remembered that one; it was very exciting for a story that took place almost entirely in the living room.

That's "Short Wave" from Season 3. It's available on DVD.

Thanks! I gotta see it!

That's a really good episode. I just saw it today, and I was almost crying by the end. It's a great one.

I went and got the DVD when I realized that it was available. I wasn't disappointed. When Jim grabs 'Kitten'...just great television.

There needs to be a station that exclusively airs classic television shows with extras! TV Land used to be like that, but now there's nothing like that.

Completely agree with you. I've though that for years!

I just watched it for the first time and I have to agree with all the positive comments. Very gripping episode that I’m sure stayed with many viewers.

reply

I agree. Terrific episode, love it.

I saw that episode the other day on Antenna TV. I love how Jim has a blackboard and draws the boat but doesn't think of calling the Coast Guard.

reply

I watched it again today, and I was really struck by how long it took the Andersons to call. They kept hearing people say, if you know where the boat is, call the Coast Guard, and the Andersons just sat there listening as though it were a radio drama.

I have not seen that episode in 30 - 40 years, but I remember it well and it was one of the best in the series.

reply

I just watched it for the first time . . . one of the most intense episodes of any TV series I've ever seen. Just wow!
