I agree with Walt Disney..

I have never liked Peter Pan in this movie, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I read the Trivia and it said "Though the film was extremely successful, Walt Disney himself was dissatisfied with the finished product. He felt that the character of Peter Pan was cold and unlikable."

does anybody else feel this way?
I mean, I liked Jeremy Sumpter's Peter, as well as Robin Williams, but not this one.

If this film was made today, Peter Pan would be sweet and nice and lovable; which would be ridiculous and incorrect, as the book it is based on shows Peter to be not so nice. What I like about the older Disney stuff is that the film characters weren't always sugary sweet and innocent. Characters like the Queen in Snow White, and Cruella DeVille, left a strong impression because they were scary. And some of the characters in Pinnochio were even more terrifying! This is a great lesson for children; that not everybody is gonna be nice! It's important for kids to learn that fact young. The character Peter Pan was likable, mostly because he had the attitude; he was a good person but he was strong, and he wasn't afraid to be rebellious.

"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'

To be fair, Peter is supposed to be rather unlikeable..
Though I do like his face character at Disneyland.

No, I don't agree. I don't think this version of Peter's unlikable at all.

Then again, I've never read the book...

Many people here have offered great rebuttals, and I do agree with them that yes, Peter Pan was already a cold, extremely dark character. My issue is that Walt had been in a production of Peter Pan if I recall correctly, so he should have already known this about the character. Why would he even say something like this?

My issue with the Peter Pan character in this movie is that he actually isn’t cold and unlikable enough.
