very good film noir

I’m not stalking you hownos I swear. I feel like I’m constantly commenting on your threads but I think we just like the same movies. I just watched this movie and found it really compelling. I thought Mitchum was fantastic as a street-wise guy who got sucked in by a beautiful fem fatale never considered himself a victim. He just rolled with whatever went wrong against him. I thought the courtroom scenes were terrible though; half-hearted and poorly played. A juror stands up in the middle of trial and starts asking questions of witness? Ridiculous. I thought it was interesting that they worked in the Japanese couple who had good speaking roles in 1953 although I didn’t understand their purpose to the story. Maybe I haven’t thought it through enough. What’d you think?
