Felt More Like An Episode of the 'Alred Hitchcock Hour'

This felt more like an episode of Hitchcock's TV show rather than a feature length movie.

Its funny you should say that, seeing as the TV show started four years later. In Hitchcock circles, it is actually Psycho of 1960 that gets the rap as "looking like a Hitchcock TV show"-- because Hitch filmed it on Universal soundstages where he FILMED the Hitchcock TV show, using his TV crew(mostly) and Universal art directors and even sound effects.

One 1960 critic(Dwight MacDonald) wrote of "Psycho" -- "This is just one of his TV episodes, padded for time and with more sadism because we know more about the victims."

All that said, it is interesting that you see Strangers on a Train -- made at Warner Brothers on a movie budget with movie art direction, etc -- as being like a Hitchocck TV episode.

I think what makes it most different would be the spectacular(and expensive) runaway carousel scene at the end...
