Lucy is Matchmaker

Watched this fairly-sexy-for-its-time ep last night. Each time I catch it, I'm reminded of PJ'S observation that Lucy knows that Eddie Grant is staying at the Sherry Plaza hotel, despite the fact we never see Lucy learn where he's at. To me, it's obvious Ricky must've let this slip at breakfast or something (off camera).

However, there's something else I noticed last night. When Eddie finally speaks with Sylvia on the phone, he grins and runs his hand through his hair, stating, "Oh, I wouldn't say it's THAT curly..." WHEN did Lucy ever mention Eddie's hair to Sylvia?

reply

Ah good point. Maybe Ethel told her? Because isn't there one scene where Lucy is on the phone and Sylvia couldn't get through, so she had to call Ethel? Maybe Ethel mentioned it.

reply

Good point for you! Anyway, as I've always said, not EVERYTHING that happens to these characters is exposed in an episode.

reply

For sure!

reply

Yes, Ethel must've given Sylvia a physical description of Eddie! Too bad that they never did a later follow up episode to this one. I was always curious about Eddie and Sylvia and if anything came of their blind date.

reply

I wouldn't expect much. Eddie was fine thinking he was gonna bed Lucy (not cool, then or now) and Sylvia had no problem flirting with married men. These two characters didn't seem mature enough for marriage.

reply

No I never expected them to get married but I was always curious about what Sylvia looked like.

Eddie was the epitome of all those "travelling salesman" jokes and Sylvia's off screen behavior (as the women described it) reminded me of a boy crazy teen-age girl.
