I had not seen this film until today. Quite frank for the times.
I was amazed that Mildred Joanne Smith only has one film credit listed. She apparently had an active Broadway career before this, and then disappears from public view.
Anyone have any further details? Internet searches don't shed much light on her career other than No Way Out.
Ms. Smith appeared in several mostly failed Broadway plays, one of them, an all-black version of LYSISTRATA that also included Sidney Poitier in a small role. Why she has no film or TV credits after NWO, I have no idea. Given the lack of opportunities for black actresses at the time, she may have moved to Europe.
