a friend recommended this movie to me, in memory of the passing of ruby dee.
all i can say is WOW. explosive, daring, brave film...holy crap...
there is no way a movie like that could be made today...
i think this was sidney poitier's first film, and the first time widmark and poitier appeared in a film as rivals. incredible work by both of them.

It was a great film, I missed a few minutes, but it was excellent. I was blown away by the performances of Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier, who at the age of 22, gave a top notch portrayal of a young doctor. He seemed so confident and had this been a perfect world, he would have become a major star much earlier in his career.
