++++SPOILERS++++ Wrestling Scene Ending

I've just watched this film for the first time and I can't help but notice the similarities between the death scene of Gregorius and that of Darth Vader at the end of Empire Strikes Back (I told you there'd be spoilers ;) )

The fact that it's an estranged father dying in his son's arms and constantly referring to him as 'my son'. Even his tone of voice seemed similar to Vader's. The camera angle over the son's shoulder was also pretty similar.

Anyone else agree?

Interesting catch. Could be a homage to the scene in this film.

Well, it's a common theme in stories.

Maria Ouspenskaya's old gypsy mother holding her dead werewolf son in "The Wolf Man" with Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney, Jr.
is an even sadder scene: "The way you walked was thorny though no fault of your own, but as the rain enters the soil, the river enters the sea, so tears run to a predestined end. Now you will have peace for eternity."
