Under Suspicion...

Some similarities there. The Gene Hackman character is more tolerable then Dix. He does not beat people in fact the police rough him up.

In Under suspicion half the film is Hackman's character in long term exhausting police interrogation and the story is told in flash backs. So it is different. US also takes place in Puerto Rico which is unusual.
