Villain (S P O I L E R )

I liked Raymond Burr in many films. Even when he had bit parts, his dark malevolence is powerful. As Perry Mason, I still felt he had a dark side.

In this one, his tossing the flaming Courvoisier was chilling. It reminded me of Lee Marvin throwing boiling coffee into Gloria Grahame's face in "The Big Heat." In both films, the title seems to describe the aftermath of that sadistic action. In both, the sadists turn out to be "yellow" inside, which is satisfying to see.
