PLEASE, if there are on DVD, upload English subtitles (www.opensubtitles.org for example or titles.box.sk), I´m a great fan of noir movies, but not so experienced in English hearing. This is one of the flicks where I´m waiting for subtitles. -- And If you like Claire Trevor here, try Born To Kill, IMHO one of the best less known noirs from my favourite director Robert Wise.

No, all of the actors had very good diction, and the recording quality was excellent. You might have seen a badly worn print. The one showing now (2022) on TCM has been restored and sounds fine.
