Casting for a remake?

Betty -- Ellen Page
Bob -- Topher Grace
Ma Kettle -- Meryl Streep
Pa Kettle -- Billy Bob Thornton
Crowbar -- Wes Studi (a more dignified interpretation than we're used to)

A new version would have to stick closer to the original book -- hint at a little grim desperation under the humor. Except the portrayal of Native Americans would have to be a bit more thoughtful, and MAYBE a happy ending for these two kids might be procured.

Hopefully a remake will never happen.
Watch the original - IT's GREAT !

"She's in the Attic!!" - Bea Arthur

Oh please - no remake. With all due respect to those mentioned in your list of cast possibilities, no one could ever do the movie justice by taking on the roles Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray, Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride had.

How about Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor?

Oh, wait. That's right.

A remake would be an abomination. Just watch the original.
