The car they hitched a ride in looked a LOT like Bacalls car in the movie 'Dark Passage' - also made in '49 ...

The Woody! Since that was Warner Bros., and this is RKO, maybe it was the same one used in that year's "Out of the Past" and "They Won't Believe Me", both RKO.

Coulda been, but those woody station wagons were a dime a dozen and easy to come by back then.
