How did Cary resist!

What a great movie! However, Cary Grant finding delicious looking Shirley the Bobbysoxer up in his apartment and then getting caught by the girl's older sister and the DA. Oh well, fun to think of what Cary's character would have done if not disturbed.

Myrna was GORGEOUS!

Heck, just look at the cover the DVD (and the poster), and Myrna is showing a lot of skin! And she was in her forties when she did this (and looking equally great in other movies during this time such as THE THIN MAN GOES HOME, and THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES).

Two words: Jail bait. That's why everybody was trying to break down the door. A 40 year old man with a 17 year old minor? Maybe today - maybe - but not in America of 1947. And it would still raise a lot of eyebrows, even now.

The 42 year old Myrna Loy would be a much better match with the 43 year old Grant, no? And that single strap dress that Myrna wore was quite delightful.
Not to say that Shirley Temple wasn't a sweety at that age with the heart shaped face and that cute little mouth.

What do you have in common with someone less than half your age though? An adult who's in what amounts to early middle age matched up with a teenager? Oy.

'That's a lovely dress...and you look wonderful in it'--INDEED!

the always-beautiful Myrna Loy was amazing in this film...

'We all dream of being a child again - even the worst of us. Perhaps the worst most of all...'

I agree!

But then again I like the taboo of an older man with a younger woman.

Kitty Collins: Tell me, little boy, did you get a whistle or baseball bat with that suit?
