Anyone else have a crush on Herbert Pocket?

I had no idea a young Alec Guinness was so cute! I loved watching the energy he had with this character.

Holding out hope for The Front Runner.

I thought I was the only one! I just saw the film and loved Herbert Pocket. Not only was he cute but he was a great character in general.

I was just watching this movie and thinking how good he looked as a young man....
It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

Yes, yes, yes! Herbert is my favorite character in the novel and film. He's adorable, kind, and so well mannered. I love the scene of his first meeting with Pip (as an adult, that is) -- totally charming.

Despite comments made in another thread of this board, to the effect that Guinness and John Mills were too old for their respective parts, I think they are both great and have good chemistry in their scenes together.

The first dinner scene in their apartment when Pip just moves in, is one of my favorites. Guinness says in one of his autobiographies that he kept fluffing his lines, and they had to retake the scene countless times, and poor John Mills was forced to wolf down like a ton of potatoes... it sort of shows on screen lol

Alec Guinness was sooooo cute and fit my vision of Herbert (reading the book) better than any other character in this movie. I didn't feel he was too old. I did feel the adult Pip was too old.
