Never understood Rita’s appeal to the GIs until seeing her in this

Even before ever seeing her in a movie, I knew that she was regarded as a bombshell and lusted after by American soldiers in WWII like no other starlet. But, despite seeing her in a couple of other films (i.e., Only Angels Have Wings, The Lady from Shanghai), I didn’t understand why she was so highly regarded. After seeing her Gilda, I do. She’s beautiful, of course, more than that, exudes sex appeal.
