Hitchcock Movies I Should See

Hi everybody.

I'm just wondering what your favorite Hitchcock movies are. I first "discovered" Hitchcock about three years ago, and I want to know what other Hitchcock movies you recommend.

I've seen "Rebecca," "Suspicion," "Notorious," "Psycho," "Dial M for Murder." I own "Rear Window," "North by Northwest," "Vertigo," "To Catch a Thief," and "Spellbound."

I know I need to see more Hitchcock movies. What do y'all recommend?

TCM is showcasing Hitch this month on Sundays. Enjoy!

I was gone on Sunday, so I eagerly set my recorder to record The Birds and Murder!, both of which I haven't seen before.

I came home yesterday to find that my cable box and turned off. Apparently, electricity flickered in my apartment, and that affected the box. The recorder recorded 4 hours of black screen.

So, I still haven't seen those!

I won't spoil it, but The Birds is fantastic, and I have seen it on the big and little screen. Dial M is suspenseful. Set up an account on the website LocateTV. Add them to your picks and they will notify you when they are showing again. You can also have the Turner Classic Movie channel notify you via email when they are showing movies also. The Birds is a regular on the Encore channel, along with Hitch's Rope, Psycho, Vertigo, and Rear Window.

Unfortunately, I don't get the Encore Channel. :( But, Dial M definitely is fantastic!

I hope the other suggestions for setting up email alerts work for you.

Oh, yeah. And I do get email alerts from TCM.

I know it's been a while since you posted this message, so you've might have seen some of these, but if not, the other Hitchcock films I would recommend for you are:

Strangers on a Train (my 2nd favourite Hitchcock film; Vertigo being my No. 1)

Rope (my 4th favourite Hitchcock film)

The Birds (my 5th favourite Hitchcock film)

Lifeboat (a very underrated Hitchcock film)

The Lady Vanishes (one of Hitchcock's most interesting films)

The 39 Steps (reminds me a little bit of North by Northwest. While I enjoy NBN more, seeing as it's my 3rd favourite of Hitchcock, it's still very good)

The Man Who Knew Too Much (you can't go wrong with James Stewart!)

Shadow of a Doubt

The Wrong Man (very people have seen this one. It is actually based on a true story. It's about a man who was arrested on the basis of mistaken identity. Henry Fonda and Vera Miles' performances are very good)

Thanks!

I still haven't seen "The Birds" yet. I keep missing it! I'll have to buy it, maybe for a Christmas present to myself.

The others I've seen and I like very much.

All the ones you mention are amongst his very best work, but you must absolutely add Rope, which I consider top 5 for Hitchcock, perhaps even top 3. It is similar to Dial M for Murder I would say. Shadow of a Doubt, Suspicion and The Birds are also great. Stage Fright and Strangers on a Train are pretty good, although I find the latter to be overrated. The Lady Vanishes was interesting, especially for such an early film (1938).
