Alda playing piano?

It looks like Robert Alda was playing the piano. I don't imagine the sound was actually his, but he either does play or did a great job of looking authentic. Anyone know the story? There's nothing in the IMDB about it.

Thanx

Google yielded this information, from a book titled George Gershwin: A Bio-Bibliography by Norbert Carnovale:

Piano for Alda played by Ray Turner.

Turner was listed in the film's credits under "Additional Piano Solo Recordings", after the credit for Oscar Levant, who played "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Concerto in F".

Other Google-found references gave some hints of Turner's history: he played with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra in the mid-1920's, and later found his way to Hollywood, where he provided (uncredited, for the most part) music for many other films.

Thanx Ron,

I obviously didn't do much research before my post. I wonder if Ray Turner was the second pianist we see on stage during one of the scenes (first scene of the Rhapsody, I think...played by Gershwin?)

Ciao, e buon auguri

I wondered about that too. It sure looked like he was playing the piano.
