who

what are the name of the actors who played the three villains in this movie

Unless I've mistaken the three would be:

* Martin Kosleck (1904-1994) as the knife throwing Mirko
* William "Wee Willie" Williams (1906-1981) as the deaf mute giant Gubec
* Rex Evans (1903-1969) as their leader Gregor

I agree with your other thread wondering why this film is held in such low regard. Personally I found it quite entertaining, and based on the average score here I guess plenty of others do too since an average of 7,3 out of 10 is quite good. What I liked about it the most was how it put Rathbone/Holmes and Bruce/Watson in a new environment (at sea), it offers some fun supporting characters and not to mention some very memorable villains (the three listed above). It also has a very charming and sweet female lead (the singer/piano player Sheila) played by a very likable Marjorie Riordan. It's a shame she didn't get a bigger career.

I agree the change in setting makes for an interesting challenge. Usually they are in London, or the Moor, or some other wide open setting. It takes real artistry to set a mystery well in such a confined space as a ship at sea. After all it's not like Holmes can just spirit his charge off of the ship without anyone knowing, nor can the assassins just kill their target and melt away into the countryside like they might in a land locked setting. The verbal sparring that Holmes and Gregor do during the Shuffleboard match is classic. Both know that the other one is a thorn in their sides and that only one of them can win, and yet civility is maintained throughout the encounter. Something you rarely (if ever) see in films/TV shows today.

As you say everyone is trapped when onboard a ship at sea including the villains. This is good isolated closed circle stuff.
