As Melody Jones, Coop plays his part to the hilt. I won't give anything away but it is a good story, with a great cast. Worth watching! I love Gary Cooper and this shows a side of him that I have rarely seen. Enjoy this film. Don't let other posts on this site make your mind up for you. You will like this film. After watching Coop in films like High Noon this is certainly a different kettle of fish. An excellent comedy Western but don't forget William Demarest plays the sidekick with aplomb.

Coop was of course a great actor but he was drop dead GORGEOUS as well!

I hope you are a woman with those words. Speaking as a man, I think Loretta Young was drop dead gorgeous when she was "young" in age as well as in name.

She was thirty-two when she made this movie. And yes, that's very young.
